Show up with nothing.
Leave with something that works.

Mango Hacks is a free, one-day hackathon for high-school and early-college students across the Bay Area.

  • Built for first-timers

Workshops start from zero and mentors stay on the floor all day.

  • Everything is covered

Meals, snacks, stickers, and hardware to borrow. Free.

  • Judged by builders

Working engineers and founders give feedback and judge demos.

Tracks

Build whatever you want. These are the buckets we hand trophies out of.

  • Best Overall

The project that makes the whole room quiet down.

  • Best First Hack

Only open to people at their first hackathon. Ever.

  • AI & Machine Learning

Models, agents, and things that think a little.

  • Social Impact

Something your own community would actually use.

  • Design & Craft

The one that looks and feels unreasonably good.

The day

Twelve and a half hours, start to finish. Doors open at eight.

  1. Doors and breakfast

Check in, grab food, find people to build with.

  2. Opening ceremony

Rules, prizes, and the ten minutes that make everyone want to start.

  3. Beginner workshops

Start-from-zero sessions plus workshops run by our sponsors.

  4. Lunch

Food, and the first wall almost everybody hits.

  5. Mentor sweep

Engineers walk the floor, unstick projects, and answer the dumb questions for free.

  6. Dinner and submissions

Last push, then everything gets locked.

  7. Demos

Every team presents to real judges.

  8. Awards and closing

Trophies, photos, and the group chat that outlasts the day.
